Arístides Llaneza was born in Mexico City. He earned a Music degree from the Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College, City University of New York and later completed a doctorate at Duke University. Instrumentalists and groups such as Alexander Bruck, Alfonso Gómez, Tambuco, So Percussion, Flux Quartet, Ensemble Intercontemporain, The Ciompi Quartet, JACK Quartet, Eastman BroadBand Ensemble and Ensemble SurPlus have performed his music in México, the US, France, Spain and Germany. He has promoted a number of musical activities in Chihuahua (Mexico), where he creates computer-assisted composition projects
